Classic vehicles aren’t just any old vehicles. That’s why they aren’t covered by just any old insurance.
Classic Car Insurance offers specialised cover for your special set of wheels. This includes cover for accidental damage or loss, fire, theft, vandalism, third party property damage (up to $20 million) and more.
A classic car is at least 15 years old and needs to be recognised by us as a classic vehicle to be covered. You can call us on 132 132 to find out if your car is recognised as a classic car.
We can cover your classic car for wedding and special occasion hire, as well as for your personal use.
Cover is available if you drive your car for less than 9,000km a year.

Accidents
We cover your car in an accident, plus other cars and property if you’re at fault.
Fire, storm & flood
We cover your car if it’s damaged by severe weather1.
Towing
We pay for towing to a repairer or safe place if your car can’t be driven after an event we cover (like an accident).
Theft & vandalism
We cover your car if it’s stolen, vandalised, or damaged by someone trying to steal it.
Damage to others' property
We cover up to $20 million of damage you cause to other people’s cars or property in an accident..
Emergency repairs
We pay for repairs you need to make after an event we cover so your car’s secure and safe to drive (up to $1,000).
Personal items
We cover personal items2 in your car if they’re stolen or damaged in an accident (up to $1,000).
Windscreen, sunroof & window damage
We cover glass (including tinting). If glass is the only thing damaged by a covered event, you won't have to pay an excess provided you let us know and we arrange the repairs.
There are some things we don’t cover
Business use
We don’t cover your car if you use it for earning income or business purposes other than wedding or special occasion hire.
Injuries to you or others
Injuries are covered by your mandatory CTP Insurance.
Roadside assistance
We don’t cover assistance for breakdowns, dead batteries or flat tyres.

Important note for customers in NSW, QLD, TAS & ACT. If you purchased your policy before 21 April 2024 and you either haven't renewed it yet or you last renewed it before 1 July 2024, your cover will be different to the cover described above. The agreed value that applies to your classic car is shown on your current Certificate of Insurance.
We cover anyone who drives your car, even if you haven't nominated them on your policy3.
An additional excess (known as an 'undisclosed driver age excess') applies if the driver is under 25 years of age. You won't pay this excess if the driver's a learner and was appropriately supervised by a fully licensed driver over the age of 25.
An additional excess (known as an 'undisclosed driver excess') applies where the driver is 25 years of age or older and is not listed on your policy.
You won't have to pay either of these additional excesses if the driver is listed on your policy.
You don’t need to list a learner driver on your policy unless they’re the registered owner of the car. If you need to pay an excess, we’ll base it on the details of the supervising driver.
If your car’s damaged and we decide it can be repaired, you can have it fixed by a repairer we arrange for you.
We’ll help find a repairer that's convenient for you. We’ll manage the repair process with them so you don’t have to worry.
Cover for your car if it's stolen or catches fire, as well as cover for damage to other people's cars and property if you cause an accident.
Cover for a wide range of things that can damage or destroy your car, including accidental damage, collision or crash, vandalism, theft, fire and severe weather.
Compulsory Third Party Insurance for your car if you’re in NSW or SA (or MAI Insurance in the ACT). This covers injuries to other people if you cause an accident on the road.
