Motorhome Insurance FAQs

Are the things inside my motorhome covered?

Motorhome Insurance covers items that are permanently kept inside your motorhome, like furniture, bedding and appliances. If you want to check what cover you can get for items you take outside your motorhome (like jewellery, phones and laptops), see Home Contents Insurance.

If my motorhome gets damaged and I can't live in it, do you cover temporary accommodation?

Yes. If you've told us your usual permanent home is your motorhome but now you can't live in it because of damage from a covered incident, we'll pay your reasonable temporary accommodation costs (up to $5,000).

What happens to my motorhome if it can't be driven after an accident?

If your motorhome is damaged in an incident we cover, we’ll pay to store it (and any trailer it was towing) until it's repaired or we settle your claim, whichever comes first. We'll also pay to move your motorhome and trailer from where it's stored to a repairer.

Before you agree to get your motorhome towed, you need to let us know and we have to agree to the cost of towing it.

If someone else use my motorhome, are they also covered?

Yes, we cover anyone who has your permission to use your motorhome1. An age excess will apply to anyone under 25 who drives or tows your motorhome.

If I'm towing a trailer and it gets damaged, is it covered?

Yes, we'll pay to repair your trailer if it's damaged in a covered incident while your motorhome was towing it (up to $1,000).

Things you should know

  1. Cover is subject to standard underwriting guidelines and policy terms. Additional excesses apply for undisclosed drivers, including for drivers under 25.

  2. We may not cover you for some severe weather events during an embargo period (which is usually when we know a severe weather event is about to occur). We'll tell you if there's an embargo when you purchase your policy.

  3. To get a new replacement motorhome, your motorhome must have been a new or demonstrator vehicle when you bought it and less than 24 months from the date of the accident we cover.

  4. We can cover motors for up to 15 years after they were made.
