In NSW, there are both mandatory and optional types of insurance for your vehicle.

Some drivers also choose to get car insurance like Comprehensive Car Insurance, which offers the broadest cover. We also offer Third Party Fire & Theft Insurance and Third Party Property Damage Insurance.

This is optional, so it’s up to you to choose the level of protection you want for yourself and your vehicle.

What type of car insurance should I get in NSW?

The only insurance that’s mandatory for NSW drivers is Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance, also known as a Green Slip.

This covers injuries if you cause a road accident, as you or people you injure might need to receive medical treatment or replace lost income while they recover.

If you want protection for your car or other things that can happen on the road, like damage to other people’s cars or property, you can choose from a range of car insurance policies that cover this.

You can read about our Comprehensive Car Insurance, Third Party Fire & Theft Insurance and Third Party Property Damage Insurance. And that’s not all. For classic cars, there’s Classic Car Insurance, and we even have insurance for other vehicles like caravans and motorcycles

What’s the difference between Green Slip and Comprehensive Car Insurance?

CTP Green Slip Insurance and Comprehensive Car Insurance are different.

You need CTP Insurance to register your vehicle in New South Wales, and it covers related medical costs and lost income if people are injured in an accident you cause on the road.

Comprehensive Car Insurance is optional and covers certain things that your CTP Insurance doesn’t. It covers your car for accidental damage, collision or crash, severe weather, theft, vandalism and malicious acts. Our Comprehensive Car Insurance also covers the extras on your car like alloy wheels, sunroofs and custom sound systems.
