What is domestic services insurance?

Domestic services insurance refers to insurance for domestic workers who offer services like cleaning, gardening and various domestic repairs. Whether you’re a cleaner or chauffeur, getting insurance can help protect the business you’ve worked hard for in case things go wrong.

For example, if you damage a client’s belongings while cleaning or repairing them. If your client then makes a claim against you, this could create extra costs for your business and impact your operations and reputation.

Most domestic services businesses will consider getting Public Liability Insurance (also known as General and Products Liability Insurance). This is designed to cover claims of injury or damage to others, as well as certain legal costs in the event of a dispute. You can choose your level of Public Liability Insurance and explore other cover options for your tools and equipment, vehicles and more when you get your Business Insurance quote.

Domestic services insurance FAQs

What insurance might a cleaner consider?

Cleaners might want to consider Public Liability Insurance to cover their businesses in the event of a liability claim. Whether you have a cleaning business or offer gardening or pet grooming services, having insurance can help protect what matters most to your business, like your cash flow or equipment.

Our Public Liability Insurance (also called General and Products Liability Insurance) is designed to cover claims that could arise from a range of different accidents. For example, if you damage part of a client’s home or you injure someone with one of your power tools.

When you get your Business Insurance quote, you can tailor a policy to suit your business’s specific needs. For example, you can choose a Public Liability Insurance cover limit of up to $5 million, $10 million, $15 million or $20 million. Or if you need more cover, call us on 132 818.

You may also want to get cover for other things that are important to your business. That’s why we offer a range of cover options including cover for your work tools, equipment, vehicle and more.

Should I consider getting Professional Indemnity Insurance?

Professional Indemnity Insurance is designed for professionals who offer services as part of their business, like accountants, architects, graphic designers, marketing consultants, personal trainers, business analysts and more.
